The Cell coffee table by Michael Malmborg takes its inspiration from the structure of the human cell. Apparently the thesis behind the design was so integral to the asthetics it was only sheer luck that the table had a functional aspect.

A combination of shiny steel and smooth wood, the Cell uses a unique cladding process that eliminates the need for any welding joints.

This is one cell that definitely isn’t in danger of turning malignant.
